A Child's View Of History - Part Eight - Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was good friends with George Washington and Christopher Columbus.
His Friends
When Abraham Lincoln was a little boy he walked ten miles in the rain just to give somebody a few pennies. Abraham Lincoln built most of the log cabins in America.
His father was killed in Korea. Abraham Lincoln's mother died of Dutch Elm disease.

Abraham Lincoln lived a long time ago in the Ancient Years. While Abraham was living I think between the early 1940s or the 1950s a war broke out. I think if Abraham and the Pilgrims didn't have that fight a war might still be going on here today.
Lincoln became President fourscore and seven years ago. Abraham Lincoln is also known as "Honest Ape."
Abraham Lincoln is famous because he freed the slaves from Nazi concentration camps. The South wanted Abraham Lincoln to be a slave so Lincoln declared war on the South. Lincoln's biggest general was Useless S. Grunt. He was drunk all the time but he was still a good general.
The Civil War was fought between North and South America. The South kept attacking but finally they lost because Lincoln dropped a nuclear bomb on them. The South should have known that anybody smart enough to invent the telephone would be smart enough to win the Civil War.
Lincoln also invented the underground railroad. The underground railroad ran through the Lincoln Tunnel. The underground railroad was made with golden spikes. Slaves would escape from the South on the underground railroad but they had to ride it at night when hardly anybody was on it. Harriet Tubman was an engineer on the underground railroad. Harriet Tubman helped slaves escape to Canada so they wouldn't be drafted into the Civil War. Today you can still ride on underground railroads in big cities like Chicago, New York, and California.
After he freed the slaves, Lincoln went to a movie theater to relax after a long hard war. A man was there who was mad because the North won so he shot Abraham Lincoln from a booth.
After Lincoln was killed, his vice president Martin Luther King took over.
Abraham Lincoln always wore black clothes and a big hat. That's why we have a statue of him today sitting in a chair.
Jesus, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King all died so we could be free to watch television.
