A Child's View Of History - Part Seven - George Washington
George Washington is called the Father of our Country because he gave birth to Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy.
His Friends
George Washington is famous because he won the Revolutionary War, chopped down a cherry tree, and threw a dollar bill across the Delaware River. George Washington was not a caveman, but his father might have been.
People back then were mad because the King was trying to make Americans pay taxes and he didn't even live in America. Thomas Edison and John Handcock wrote a letter to King Arthur saying they were tired of being ruled by Germany. They called the letter the Constitution. The Constitution gives us the right to talk and walk in the direction we want to.
The King thought everybody in America was revolting. The King sent Hitler to fight the Americans. Everybody picked George Washington to be the leader because he was the first President of the United States.
After he won the war, George Washington was so happy he invited everybody to a tea party in Boston.
George Washington built Washington DC all by himself. It took him almost two weeks.
George Washington never knew that he would be the first President until someone had told him. George Washington became President in 1803 during the Vietnam War. He was not in the Civil War, but he was in World War I and World War II.
George Washington was not only our first President, he was also a great Black leader. After he won the Civil War, he built a college for Black people and invented peanut butter.
If you go to Washington DC today you can still see a big monument to George Jefferson.
